Due to continued growth, VTG Rail, the UK‘s largest Rail Freight wagon leasing company, has a fantastic opportunity for an high performing, organised and motivated individual to join our Birmingham based team as a Sales/Account Manager.

The successful candidate will be passionate about sales and delivering excellence to our customers, they will have a strong technical as well as commercial aptitude, allowing them to function effectively in delivering fully fledged operational solutions, along with robust and profitable lease agreements. Developing creative solutions, thoroughness and attention to detail are necessary attributes to ensure a successful outcome in the role. A willingness and ability to travel throughout the whole of the UK with occasional overnight stays and overseas visits is essential.

Reporting directly to the Sales & Marketing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing customer accounts throughout the UK.

 

Duties will include:

  • Developing and sustaining solid relationships with allocated clients to achieve best results for both parties via a thorough understanding of their business requirements
  • Management of allocated client accounts, providing support for existing business and growth plans with contract renewals achieved ahead of time on improved terms.
  • Working with current and prospective clients to identify and develop their wagon hire requirements
  • Production of commercial proposals and tender responses, progressing these through to contract completion.
  • Negotiating client contracts, maximising the fulfilment of the company’s objectives whilst meeting the client’s business needs.
  • Post contract communications and liaison with in-house teams, both UK and overseas, to ensure contract deliverables are achieved as agreed
  • Acting as the main commercial point of contact between the client and the company’s internal teams throughout the life of the contract.
  • Addressing and resolving any client complaints in conjunction with other teams within the business as required.
  • Communicating and collaborating with internal Engineering, Operations and Finance departments to plus external agencies as required by the business.
  • Compiling reports on account progress, goals, and forecasts for the leadership team and other stakeholders.
  • Representing the company at industry events and functions as required.
